ANNA is Kathy Kemp's middle name and the name of her grandmother who taught here how to sew when she was a girl. Kathy grew up sewing and eventually became obsessed with altering the design of the preppy, sometimes boring clothes she wore to school. After studying Anthropology in college, Kathy moved to New York City where her hardworking moxie kicked in and she started her career. The rest is history which is documented through the years of magazine articles lauding the ANNA vibe and Kathy Kemp's designs.
Kathy has a deep sensibility regarding the human form, especially the form in motion. Her designs allow musculature to carry the fabric. The feminine form is accentuated by the drape and the fabrics are cut to move. Kathy Kemp's clothes aren't star chasers, although they have been seen on Sex and the City and a slew of other television shows and feature films, and in editorial spreads from the New York Times Magazine to Russian Vogue. Kathy's designs can be spotted on girls all over NYC, yet the clothes aren't just for city slickers. ANNA has grown to become a must-stop shop for hardworking, hard playing darlings from L.A. to London to Tokyo.
